Small scale LNG

Aims

Technological development of a process leading to the construction of a BioLNG demonstrator and/or production facilities.

Coming up with a solution including pretreatment and liquefaction with reduction of costs

Positioning on an emerging, growing BioGNL market.

Action

  1. 1

Intelligence on competition in relation to technologies for NG/biogas liquefaction, BOG re-liquefaction and pre-treatment of NG/biogas. Drawing up of intelligence notes shared both internally and externally

  2. 2

Simulation of processes using ASPEN Hysys and Aspen Plus: Assessment of the performances of pre-treatment processes (PSA/TSA, membranes, cryogenic distillation, etc.) and liquefaction (specific consumption) along with their dimensioning.

  3. 3

Soliciting bids from suppliers for the supplying of equipment (rotating machines, pumps, compressors, columns and dessiccants, etc.)

  4. 4

Alterations to facilities and integration of new equipment (managing/monitoring alterations and testing/validating the unit)

  1. 5

Tests on the purification processes for natural gas and biogas in order to develop or adapt the pre-treatment technologies (PSA/VPSA/PTSA, membranes, amine scrubbing, etc.). These tests are carried out on a pilot unit (5x4x5 metres, 50 Nm3/h) allowing tests on various natural gas purification modes.

  2. 6

Hierarchical organisation of existing technologies according to their capacities and costs (CAPEX/OPEX)

  3. 7

Proposing solutions allowing costs to be reduced by 30% (CAPEX/OPEX) both internally and within the various Bus in relation to the (bio)LNG market.

  4. 8

Drawing up reports: Liquefaction technologies which can be scaled down (biogas). Technical and economic assessments

IMPACT

Technical skills in tests on processes relating to natural gas or biogas: pre-treatment, liquefaction, storage, etc.)

Optimisation of small-scale gas processes: pre-treatment, liquefaction, etc.

Identification, study (simulation, tests, etc.) and selection of technologies according to costs (CAPEX and OPEX).

Coming up with ideas for innovative technologies identified in relation to the project (technological intelligence and drawing up bibliographical summaries)
